TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center has received certification as a StormReady hospital. This designation comes after a thorough evaluation by the National Weather Service.

“TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center has done everything possible to improve emergency first responder, patient, visitor and staff preparedness in the event of a natural disaster,” said Jason Wright, Senior Meteorologist at the Nashville National Weather Service.

The StormReady program started in 1999 and seeks to equip America's communities with the communication and safety skills needed to save lives and property--before and during the event. StormReady helps community leaders and emergency managers strengthen local safety programs.

According to the National Weather Service, StormReady communities are better prepared to save lives from the onslaught of severe weather through advanced planning, education and awareness. No community is storm proof, but StormReady can help communities save lives. StormReady News headlines detail how it really makes a difference.

TriStar Southern Hills’ emergency preparedness coordinator Kathy Swalls led the effort to achieve this designation. TriStar Southern Hills is the fourth hospital in Middle Tennessee to receive this recognition.

“We are proud to have achieved this recognition for our patients, employees, and the community we serve,” TriStar Southern Hills CEO Tom Ozburn said.
