NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 18, 2013) – TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center announced today the launch of the After Breast Cancer (ABC) Program in partnership with the Southern Hills YMCA. The 16-week free program for breast cancer patients and survivors is offered at the Southern Hills YMCA on the hospital campus.
“Our unique partnership with the YMCA has enabled us to offer this important program to our patients and members of the community,” said Thomas Ozburn, chief executive officer at TriStar Southern Hills. “With our clinical resources at the hospital and the expertise of the YMCA staff, this collaboration will offer a crucial resource in the South Nashville community.”
The ABC Program provides comprehensive nutrition, exercise and wellness services free of charge to breast cancer survivors and patients. During the 16-week program, participants receive full access to the Y, a custom wellness plan designed by a Pink Ribbon® Certified personal trainer, nutrition counseling from a registered dietitian at Southern Hills and physical therapy and training from a lymphedema specialist.
In addition to the ABC Program, Southern Hills also offers a monthly breast cancer support group and recently received the American College of Radiology Breast Center of Excellence Accreditation.
