NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Katie Radel, director of marketing and public relations for TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center, has been named a finalist for the 2017 Nashville Emerging Leader Awards. Radel, a finalist in the Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing category, is recognized for her innovative leadership and communications support that has resulted in major gains for the hospital.

The NELAs, presented by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and YP Nashville, recognize young professionals in Middle Tennessee who have excelled professionally and who have positively impacted the Nashville community.

“More patients are choosing TriStar Southern Hills than ever before, due in large part to Katie’s leadership on the communications and marketing team,” said Joanna Conley, CEO of the hospital. “She has implemented several new communications strategies resulting in increased exposure for the hospital and improved collaboration within the entire TriStar Division. She is seen as a true communications expert among her peers, and her engagement is integral to the success of this hospital.”

In addition to her professional leadership, Radel is a leader within the Nashville community. She serves on the board of Saddle Up!, is a member of Nashville Cable and actively supports Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

NELA finalists are selected by a committee composed of diverse community leaders and experts within each industry based on essay submissions, level of professional achievement, demonstrated leadership and community impact.

Finalists will be honored at a reception Thursday, June 29, at The Cordelle in Nashville, and the 11th annual NELAs ceremony will be held Thursday, Aug. 3, at Lipscomb University.
